He lived in Weald all his life.

From 1753 until his death he regularly attended Vestry meetings.

He voted for the Tories in the 1754 general election. He qualified for the vote by having freehold land and commons.

He was appointed Surveyor of the Highways for Weald for 1754. In 1758 the parish agreed to pay him £1/17/- per year for a house for William LAPPER’s wife and children. He was appointed as overseer of the poor of Weald for 1767, but died early in his term of office.

Administration of his estate was granted to his brothers John and Edward on 26 Jun 1767.
